Vulvar leukoplakia, also known as vulvar white lesions and vulvar dystrophy, is a chronic female vulvar dystrophy disease, which is closely related to the patient's autoimmune disease. Vulvar leukoplakia is one of the most difficult diseases in the world. Clinically, the local skin and mucous membranes of the vulva are often referred to as vulvar leukoplakia. Vulvar leukoplakia belongs to the non-neoplastic intraepithelial lesions of the vulva, which is a group of chronic diseases caused by degeneration and pigment changes of the skin and mucous membrane tissues of the female vulva. The most common white lesion of the vulva is vulvar squamous epithelial proliferative disease. Its main symptom is vulvar itching, which is common in women aged 30-60 years or even older. There is also a disease called vulvar lichen sclerosus, which is mainly characterized by atrophy and thinning of the vulvar and perianal skin, hypopigmentation and whitening. It can occur at any age, but it is most common in menopausal women and adolescents. It can also be seen in young women. The main symptom is also vulvar itching, but it is milder than squamous epithelial proliferative disease. The causes of these two diseases are still unclear, and may be related to the following factors: genes, autoimmunity, sex hormone deficiency or decreased sex hormone receptors. Vulvar squamous epithelial hyperplasia may be related to vulvar itching and repeated scratching caused by long-term stimulation of vulvar moisture and secretions. The diagnosis of these two diseases mainly requires pathological histological examination. Their treatment methods are roughly the same, with hormone drug treatment or physical therapy and surgical treatment. There are also other vulvar skin diseases that can cause vulvar leukoplakia, such as vitiligo, albinism and other causes of vulvar hypopigmentation.
