Ovarian cyst surgery requires hospitalization

Regarding the surgical methods for ovarian cysts, laparoscopic surgery has developed rapidly and the technology is relatively mature. Experienced doctors can also ideally and perfectly handle benign lesions such as ovarian cysts. If the ovarian cyst is found to be malignant or borderline during the operation, some experienced doctors can also successfully complete the operation under laparoscopy. Generally, patients can be discharged smoothly after 3 to 5 days of hospitalization after ovarian cyst surgery.

If the cyst is smaller than 5 cm in diameter and there is no evidence of a tumor, it is usually a functional cyst and surgery is not necessary. Just observe carefully. If the cyst is larger than 5 cm in diameter, it is an ovarian tumor and surgery is usually required.

Can ovarian cysts cause infertility?

There are two situations. One is that the ovarian cyst completely occupies the normal ovarian tissue and has no ovulation function, which will affect infertility. However, some patients with cysts or even ovarian cancer have lesions in part of their ovarian tissue, but the other normal ovary is still ovulating, so it will not cause infertility. Therefore, whether ovarian cysts will cause infertility depends on the nature of the cyst to determine whether it will affect infertility.

Another situation is ovarian endometriosis. Although ovarian endometriosis does not affect ovulation, it will affect the fertilization, transportation, implantation and development of pregnant eggs in many ways.
