Is a 2.0cm ovarian cyst serious?

An ovarian cyst of 2.0 cm is generally not serious and can be diagnosed based on the patient's age, ultrasound examination, and clinical symptoms.

1. Older age: If the patient is already in late menopause and a 2.0 cm cyst is found in the ovary, close follow-up is required. It is recommended to do MRI and tumor series when necessary. Generally, cysts are not serious diseases.

However, there should be no cysts under normal circumstances in the late menopause, so close follow-up and regular ultrasound examinations should be conducted to detect whether the cysts are progressively increasing. MRI and tumor marker examinations should be performed when necessary, and treatment measures should be taken in combination with the patient's clinical symptoms.

2. Relatively young age: Young women or women of childbearing age can have a follow-up examination just after the menstruation ends. If the physiological cysts may gradually decrease or disappear, no treatment is required at this time.

Pathological cysts may persist or gradually increase during any period of the menstrual cycle and require close follow-up and, if necessary, surgical treatment.
