Can endometrial polyps be treated with outpatient surgery?

For larger or continuously progressing endometrial polyps, hysteroscopic surgery is generally required, but this surgery cannot be performed in an outpatient clinic and requires the patient to be hospitalized.

Endometrial polyps are localized overgrowths of the uterine stroma covered by benign glandular epithelium, which may be related to excessive estrogen levels, inflammatory factors, etc. If the diameter of the endometrial polyp is less than 1 cm and the patient has no obvious symptoms, temporary follow-up can be performed without treatment; for endometrial polyps that are larger, symptomatic or continuously progressing, or those that may become cancerous, surgical treatment is required, and hysteroscopic surgery is generally recommended.

Hysteroscopic surgery requires anesthesia and strict aseptic operation, and uses a large number of surgical instruments, so hospitalization is required. During hospitalization, the patient can be better observed to see if there are any symptoms of physical discomfort, and early treatment can be provided to reduce the impact on the body. However, the surgery is less traumatic to the body, and the body recovers faster. Generally, 2 to 3 days after the surgery, if there is no heavy bleeding in the vagina, the patient can be discharged for observation.

Generally, before hysteroscopy, electrocardiogram, blood routine, coagulation function, liver and kidney function and other related examinations are required. At the same time, gynecological B-ultrasound examination is also required to clarify whether there is infection in the uterus. Only when the examination results are normal can hysteroscopy be carried out smoothly. Before the operation, fasting and drinking are also required. Specific precautions can be followed according to the doctor's advice.
