How long does it take to treat cervicitis?

Cervicitis is divided into acute cervicitis and chronic cervicitis. Usually, a course of treatment is 7 to 14 days. Due to different types of diseases and different degrees of severity, the duration of treatment also varies. The specific situation is analyzed as follows:

1. Acute cervicitis: Acute cervicitis is usually caused by pathogen infection, such as bacteria, Chlamydia trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, etc., and treatment needs to be based on the pathogen. Acute cervicitis caused by bacteria and Neisseria gonorrhoeae can be treated with drugs such as cephalexin capsules, cefixime dispersible tablets, and ceftriaxone sodium for injection. Usually, a course of treatment is 7 days; for patients with more serious conditions, the treatment time may be extended to 7 to 14 days.

2. Chronic cervicitis: Generally, for patients with chronic cervicitis, if an acute attack occurs, the treatment may take about 14 days; if patients with chronic cervicitis have polyp-like changes in the cervix, they may need surgery to remove the polyps, and after the surgery, they will also need to use antibiotics for treatment, such as: cephalexin capsules, metronidazole tablets, erythromycin capsules, etc., and generally require treatment for about 7 days.
