How to tell if you are approaching menopause

How to tell if you are approaching menopause

To determine whether you are about to enter menopause, you can observe and evaluate several aspects, including changes in the menstrual cycle, related symptoms, age factors, and medical examinations.

1. Changes in menstrual cycle: Observe whether your menstrual cycle is significantly prolonged or shortened, and whether the menstrual volume increases or decreases. This is one of the common changes before menopause, especially when the menstrual cycle becomes irregular, which may be a signal that ovarian function is beginning to decline.

2. Related symptoms: Pay attention to perimenopausal symptoms such as hot flashes, sweating, insomnia, dreaminess, mood swings, etc. These symptoms may be caused by changes in hormone levels in the body and are common manifestations of impending menopause.

3. Age factor: Consider your own age. The average menopause age for Chinese women is around 49, but there are large individual differences. Generally, women enter perimenopause between the ages of 45 and 55. If your age is close to this range and you have the above symptoms, it may mean that you are about to enter menopause.

4. Medical examination: If necessary, you can go to the hospital for medical examinations such as six sex hormones and follicle stimulating hormone to understand whether the ovarian function is declining. Especially when the follicle stimulating hormone level exceeds 40U/L, it may indicate that you have entered menopause.

It is recommended that women maintain a good attitude before and after menopause, view menopause correctly, keep a good mood, get enough sleep, and avoid staying up late. At the same time, exercise moderately, such as jogging and skipping rope every day, and eat a light diet, drink plenty of water, and ensure daily intake of milk and meat to supplement nutrition.
