Symptoms of uterine prolapse

Symptoms of uterine prolapse

The symptoms of uterine prolapse mainly include a feeling of heaviness in the lower abdomen, pain in the lumbar region, and a foreign body sensation in the vagina.

1. Lower abdominal distension: Many women feel a heavy distension in the lower abdomen, as if something is falling down. This feeling is more obvious after standing for a long time or being tired. You can imagine that it is like walking with a heavy object. After a long time, the waist and abdomen will feel uncomfortable.

2. Lumbar pain: Lumbar pain is also a common symptom of uterine prolapse. The pain may worsen when standing or walking, and relieved after rest. This pain is sometimes mistaken for ordinary back pain, but if it is accompanied by other symptoms, it needs to be taken seriously.

3. Sensation of a foreign body in the vagina: Some women may feel that there is a foreign body in the vagina, as if something is blocking the vagina. This feeling may become more obvious when coughing, straining to defecate, or lifting heavy objects. Imagine that sometimes we accidentally get something stuck in our shoes and always feel uncomfortable when walking. This foreign body sensation is similar.

4. Difficulty urinating or incontinence: Uterine prolapse may also cause difficulty urinating or incontinence. Some women find themselves leaking urine unconsciously when they cough, sneeze or laugh. This is because uterine prolapse puts pressure on the bladder and affects its normal function.

5. Constipation or difficulty in defecation: Uterine prolapse may also affect the rectum, causing constipation or difficulty in defecation. This is because the prolapsed uterus will put pressure on the rectum, making defecation difficult.

To relieve and prevent uterine prolapse, you can take the following measures:

1. Maintain a proper weight: Being overweight can increase abdominal pressure, which can worsen the symptoms of uterine prolapse. Maintaining a proper weight through a healthy diet and regular exercise can help alleviate symptoms.

2. Avoid standing for long periods of time or lifting heavy objects: Standing for long periods of time or lifting heavy objects will increase abdominal pressure. It is recommended to avoid these behaviors in daily life. If you must lift heavy objects, try to use the strength of your legs instead of your waist to do it.

3. Exercise the pelvic floor muscles: Pelvic floor muscle exercises (such as Kegel exercises) help strengthen the pelvic floor muscles and provide support for the uterus. Performing a few sets of Kegel exercises every day can effectively prevent and relieve uterine prolapse.

4. Maintain good bowel habits: Avoid constipation and maintain good bowel habits to reduce the pressure on the rectum. Eat more fiber-rich foods such as fruits, vegetables and whole grains, and maintain adequate water intake.

5. Seek professional medical help: If the symptoms of uterine prolapse are severe and affect your daily life, it is recommended to seek professional medical help in time. The doctor may recommend the use of a vaginal support or surgical treatment. Choose the most suitable option based on your personal situation.

Although uterine prolapse is common, small changes and attention in daily life can effectively relieve symptoms and improve the quality of life. If you have any questions or discomfort, it is wise to consult a doctor in time.
