Is there any relationship between cervical erosion and IUD insertion?

Cervical erosion is the original name, and now it is uniformly called cervical columnar epithelium ectopia in clinical practice. IUD placement generally refers to the placement of an intrauterine contraceptive device. Cervical columnar epithelium ectopia has nothing to do with the placement of an intrauterine contraceptive device. Cervical columnar epithelium ectopia is mostly a normal phenomenon caused by increased estrogen levels, and some are pathological cervical columnar epithelium ectopia.

Cervical columnar epithelium ectopia is not a disease, but a physiological change. It is caused by changes in estrogen in women, which stimulates cervical columnar epithelium ectopia. The damage to the cervix caused by the placement of an intrauterine contraceptive device is usually transient and not particularly severe. Therefore, cervical columnar epithelium ectopia has no direct relationship with the placement of an intrauterine contraceptive device, and generally does not cause physical discomfort and does not require special treatment.

Pathological cervical columnar epithelium ectopia may be caused by repeated stimulation of chronic inflammation of the cervix, and may cause symptoms such as contact bleeding, increased vaginal discharge, and odor. Antibiotics can be given under the guidance of a doctor, such as cefaclor tablets, cefprozil tablets, cefuroxime axetil tablets and other anti-infection treatments.

If patients with cervical columnar epithelium ectopy have no other symptoms, no special treatment is required. They should pay attention to keeping the vulva clean and dry. If symptoms occur, it is recommended to see a doctor and follow the doctor's advice. Do not take any medication at will.
