What is pelvic effusion? Is it serious?

Pelvic effusion refers to the accumulation of fluid in the pelvic cavity. It is a gynecological disease. If it is benign, it is generally not serious. However, if it is a malignant condition, it is relatively serious and should be treated promptly by a doctor.

1. Benign conditions: Pelvic effusion may be due to physiological reasons, such as accumulation of follicular fluid after ovulation, or due to mild inflammation, infection (such as pelvic inflammatory disease), postoperative reaction, etc. In this case, pelvic effusion is usually not serious and may not require special treatment, or it can be relieved by medication and rest. If the amount of effusion is not large and is not accompanied by serious symptoms, it usually does not cause serious impact on the patient's health.

2. Malignant conditions: Pelvic effusion may also be caused by serious diseases, such as ovarian cancer, endometrial cancer, colorectal cancer and other malignant tumors. In this case, pelvic effusion may be the result of tumor growth, metastasis or obstruction of the lymphatic system, which is usually more serious. Malignant pelvic effusion may be accompanied by symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, weight loss, fatigue, etc., and timely medical treatment is required for detailed examination and treatment. Treatment may include surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, etc. The specific treatment plan depends on the type and stage of the tumor.

You should pay attention to personal hygiene, take a bath and change clothes frequently, and get enough sleep.
