How to tell if you have pelvic inflammatory disease

How to tell if you have pelvic inflammatory disease

You can determine whether you have pelvic inflammatory disease by observing menstruation, abdominal pain, urination, sexual history, gynecological examination, imaging examination, etc.

1. Observe menstruation: Pelvic inflammatory disease may affect the menstrual cycle, causing increased or decreased menstrual volume, or even prolonged menstruation or irregular bleeding.

2. Abdominal pain: Patients with pelvic inflammatory disease often experience persistent or dull pain in the lower abdomen, especially during menstruation or after sexual intercourse, which may worsen. This is one of the main symptoms of pelvic inflammatory disease.

3. Urinating: Some patients with pelvic inflammatory disease may experience symptoms of urinary tract infection such as frequent urination, urgency, and pain when urinating. This is due to inflammation irritating the bladder.

4. Sexual history: Women who have frequent sex, have many sexual partners, or do not take safe measures during sexual intercourse have a higher risk of pelvic inflammatory disease.

5. Gynecological examination: The doctor will use bimanual or triple examination to evaluate whether there are positive signs such as tenderness and rebound tenderness in the uterus and adnexal area.

6. Imaging examination: B-ultrasound examination can observe whether there is fluid accumulation in the pelvic cavity, whether there is abscess in the fallopian tube and ovary, and other abnormal manifestations.

If you experience symptoms suspected of pelvic inflammatory disease, it is recommended that you go to the hospital for treatment in time to avoid delaying the condition.
