Can people with cervical erosion get pregnant? Here are some common knowledge about cervical erosion

The cervix is where the uterus of a woman is located. It is a very important reproductive organ. If there is an abnormality in this part, it will often affect the normal fertility of women. Many women find that they have cervical erosion during physical examinations and are very worried about losing their fertility. In fact, this worry is unnecessary. So, can people with cervical erosion get pregnant? Let's take a look.

People with cervical erosion can get pregnant. Cervical erosion used to be a disease that troubled many women. When you go for a physical examination, you will almost certainly be diagnosed with cervical erosion. In 2008, the 7th edition of the undergraduate textbook "Obstetrics and Gynecology" cancelled the name of "cervical erosion" and replaced it with the physiological phenomenon of "cervical columnar epithelium ectopia". Cervical erosion, in the final analysis, is actually a misunderstanding of the normal manifestation of the cervix in the past.

The squamous-columnar junction is easily affected by estrogen. Before puberty, women's ovarian function is not perfect, estrogen is low, and the columnar epithelium is closer to the inside. After menstruation, the columnar epithelium is affected by estrogen and develops more to the outside. Therefore, more columnar epithelium similar to "erosion" is found during cervical examination. After menopause, women's estrogen levels decrease, and the columnar epithelium begins to retreat to the inside. At this time, the "erosion" is no longer visible during examination. Therefore, in essence, the so-called cervical erosion is actually the eversion of the columnar epithelium.

In the past medical textbooks, there was a so-called graded diagnosis of cervical erosion, which was called mild, moderate and severe. It was believed that the size of the range was the severity of the inflammation. An area less than 1/3 was mild, 1/3-2/3 was moderate, and more than 2/3 was severe. If you understand the true mechanism of the so-called "cervical erosion" mentioned above, it is easy to understand that it is actually the different degrees of eversion of the columnar epithelium after being affected by estrogen, which is a normal physiological phenomenon.

Clinical manifestations: Cervical columnar epithelial ectopia is a normal physiological phenomenon, and there are no special clinical manifestations. Some people may have contact bleeding, but it is only an individual difference in the cervix, just like some people will bleed from their teeth or mouth when they chew something hard. If there is an increase in leucorrhea, yellowing, and a peculiar smell, it is a manifestation of cervical inflammation. The cysts and hypertrophy of the cervix are also the result of chronic cervical inflammation. No treatment is required to treat cervical columnar epithelial ectopia, and many current methods for treating cervical erosion are wrong. However, symptomatic cervicitis needs to be treated. Acute inflammation is treated with suppositories, and chronic inflammation can be treated with physical treatments such as laser or freezing.
