What are the common symptoms of cervicitis in women? What tests should patients with cervicitis undergo?

Question: If I feel unwell and suspect I have cervicitis and go to the hospital for treatment, what tests should I do?

Answer: Common symptoms of cervicitis include increased, thin or color changes of leucorrhea, even blood streaks, lower abdominal pain, swelling, or pain or even bleeding during and after sexual intercourse. Generally speaking, "triple diagnosis" is essential. Through "triple diagnosis", some qualitative lesions of the cervix can be found. Of course, "triple diagnosis" is just a simple palpation, and the lesions can only be found when they develop to a more obvious degree. Therefore, for some early or hidden lesions, a routine and qualitative examination of leucorrhea should be done. If the routine leucorrhea indicates that there may be lesions in the cervix, a cervical smear examination should be added to observe the exfoliated cells of the cervical epithelium in detail under a microscope. This is very meaningful for the early diagnosis of cervical cancer. In order to have an intuitive and comprehensive understanding of the nature and degree of cervical lesions, a colposcopy is sometimes required. Only after understanding the detailed condition through the above technical means can the best treatment plan be formulated.

The choice of treatment methods and means should be determined according to the nature and extent of the lesion. Conservative treatment is generally used for early, superficial or small lesions. The first step is to find out which microorganism causes the lesion, then do an antibiotic sensitivity test, and select sensitive drugs for systemic treatment. Local dual treatment of drug irrigation and microwave irradiation can be performed. If the lesion is more severe or the area is larger, radiofrequency treatment can be selected. Through the intervention of electrodes in the female body, high-frequency current is passed through the local lesion tissue to eliminate the lesion tissue. More importantly, the vaginal wall still maintains good elasticity after the operation, so that women have a good quality of life with their spouses.
