How big is the uterine fibroid before it needs surgical treatment? How to treat uterine fibroids?

Uterine fibroids are a common gynecological tumor disease. Many women worry about whether they will have uterine fibroids, because if not treated early, it may lead to infertility. Therefore, the treatment of uterine fibroids is very important.

So how many uterine fibroids require surgical treatment?

Uterine fibroids have different symptoms depending on the number, location, size, and degeneration, but most patients have no obvious symptoms. However, as the uterine fibroids increase, some patients will experience menorrhagia, prolonged menstruation, dysmenorrhea, abdominal contact with the tumor, and compression symptoms. If the pedicle torsion or other conditions occur, it will cause pain. It is common in multiple uterine fibroids.

Among them, with the increase of uterine fibroids, abdominal compression is the most common, and common symptoms include lower abdominal swelling, back pain, etc. In some special cases, acute pain may occur, such as torsion of pedunculated fibroids, or red degeneration during pregnancy, which may be accompanied by fever. When the tumor is large or grows too fast, a lump in the middle of the lower abdomen can usually be felt, and the texture is hard, especially in the morning when the bladder is full.

Uterine fibroids grow to the size of a fist, causing compression of other organs in the pelvis. Surgical removal can relieve symptoms, but large fibroids are more likely to worsen than small fibroids. Fibroids grow too fast, or after menopause, they do not shrink but grow larger. Uterine fibroids cause heavy bleeding, or long-term menorrhagia and prolonged menstruation lead to anemia, which cannot be cured by drugs. In this case, surgery is required.
