What should I do if I have cervical erosion? Does mild cervical erosion need treatment?

What should I do if I have cervical erosion? Does mild cervical erosion need treatment? If you are still asking about cervical erosion, you are out of date! Nowadays, there is no such thing as cervical erosion, and cervical erosion is no longer considered a disease. Cervical erosion is a normal physiological phenomenon.

In the past, there were always married female friends who were diagnosed with cervical erosion and worried about it during physical examinations. Although the incidence of cervical erosion has been much lower in the past two years, female friends who were previously diagnosed with cervical erosion are still on the road to treatment for cervical erosion. What should I do about cervical erosion? Does mild cervical erosion need treatment?

The term cervical erosion appears on the medical examination form of 80% of married women with a history of sexual activity, which brings great trouble to women. But now, the term cervical erosion is outdated! Starting from the 7th edition of the textbook "Obstetrics and Gynecology", the name of cervical erosion has been changed to "cervical columnar epithelial ectopia", and cervical erosion is no longer a pathological phenomenon, but a physiological phenomenon.

Having said that, in recent years, we can still see questions about cervical erosion on the Internet, and the disease science knowledge of cervical erosion has not yet been popularized to all ordinary people and doctors. There are two types of epithelial cells in our cervix, squamous epithelial cells close to the vagina, and columnar epithelial cells close to the uterus, which can be clearly distinguished by the naked eye. The junction of the two epithelial cells is regarded as the site of cervical erosion, medically known as the "squamo-columnar junction", which is a high-incidence alarm area for cervical cancer. The squamous-columnar junction is related to estrogen. When estrogen secretion increases, the area of "cervical erosion" increases; when secretion decreases, "cervical erosion" can disappear. The so-called cervical erosion is actually the exposure of columnar epithelium under the action of estrogen. Cervical erosion has different degrees of light, moderate and severe.

What to do with cervical erosion? You can just sit back and do nothing!

Cervical erosion is a normal physiological phenomenon and does not require any treatment. It has no effect on fertility and can even be ignored. If an unscrupulous hospital asks you to over-treat cervical erosion, you must firmly refuse and do not be fooled.

However, it should be noted that if the diagnosis is not cervical erosion, but symptomatic cervicitis, it should be treated in time. Generally, suppositories are sufficient, and chronic cervicitis can be treated with laser or cryotherapy.
