Experts explain why abortion cannot be done early

Some young women go to the hospital to have an abortion immediately after discovering they are unexpectedly pregnant, but doctors often tell them that "it is not possible now." Do you know why?

Experts point out that the best time for abortion is generally within two and a half months after menopause, because the uterus is not too large, there is not much pregnancy tissue, and the fetus is small, so it is easy to suck out, the operation time is short, and there is less bleeding. Some people think that the earlier the abortion, the better, thinking that there will be less bleeding and less pain. In fact, this is a misunderstanding and is unscientific. So why can't abortion be done earlier? What's wrong with having an abortion early?

First, the pregnancy is too short and the changes in the uterus are not obvious. The positive rate of using the immuno-anticoagulant method to test urine or B-ultrasound to diagnose pregnancy is also the highest after 40 days of amenorrhea. Unless there are conditions to test the chorionic gonadotropin in the blood, it can be diagnosed as early pregnancy.

Secondly, some women's menstrual cycles are not very regular and are easily affected by mood, seasonal changes or physical health conditions, which can delay menstruation, sometimes extending to more than 40 days before menstruation. Before this time, it is difficult to confirm whether you are pregnant.

Third, if you have an abortion too early, because the embryo has just developed and is still very small, it is easy to have empty or missed aspiration, resulting in failure of the operation or incomplete abortion. As a result, you have to undergo uterine curettage, which is another painful experience.

Therefore, if the pregnancy is confirmed after 40 days of amenorrhea, it is the most appropriate time to have an abortion, with a high success rate, less bleeding, and less pain. Therefore, if you are sure to have an abortion, go to the hospital to check the pregnancy period and the size of the gestational sac before choosing the best time for an abortion.
