What is adenomyosis? Adenomyosis is a common gynecological disease. Adenomyosis is a disease formed by endometriosis to the myometrium. Many female friends will suffer from this disease in our lives. So, what are the symptoms of adenomyosis? How to treat adenomyosis? Let's take a look. What is adenomyosis? Adenomyosis is a disease that develops from endometriosis to the myometrium. It is called adenomyosis and belongs to endometriosis. Normal endometrium grows only on the surface of the uterine cavity. If it grows outside this range and invades the myometrium, it becomes a pathological condition called adenomyosis. If the lesion is confined to one site, it becomes an adenomyoma. Symptoms of adenomyosis 1. Dysmenorrhea Most cases are secondary dysmenorrhea with progressive aggravation, and the condition is severe, often requiring pain relief. As adenomyosis develops, pain may begin about 1 week before menstruation, or extend to 1 to 2 weeks after menstruation. A small number of patients with adenomyosis still have cyclical pain before and after menstruation. 2. Dysmenorrhea Of the 318 cases reported in China, 132 (41.5%) had menstruation. A small number of patients with adenomyosis experienced heavy bleeding before surgery, which was misdiagnosed as functional uterine bleeding. 3. Infertility There are many symptoms of adenomyosis, and infertile patients are a minority of patients with adenomyosis. 4. Enlarged uterus Most of them are uniform and hard, and their size is generally no more than 12 weeks. Otherwise, they may be related to uterine fibroids. If it is adenomyosis, it may also show asymmetrical enlargement. If combined with endometriosis, there may be corresponding signs. The dangers of adenomyosis This disease can cause female infertility. In recent years, with the widespread application of intrauterine surgery technology, some young women aged 16-30 have also developed the disease, and women of childbearing age can also cause infertility. Patients may experience menstrual abnormalities, sexual pain, pelvic pain, low-grade fever, increased vaginal discharge, and chronic pain. The cause of dysmenorrhea may be due to increased local pressure outside the lesion caused by ectopic endometrial bleeding accompanied by ovarian changes, and stimulation causing spasmodic contraction of surrounding smooth muscle tissue. During gynecological examinations, it is often found that the uterus is enlarged, usually during or before and after menstruation. The enlarged uterus will gradually become smaller, but will not exceed the size of 3 months of pregnancy. If it exceeds 3 months, there will be complications. One of the hazards of adenomyosis is dysmenorrhea, which accounts for 80% of patients. Most patients present with secondary dysmenorrhea, accompanied by progressive aggravation. As the disease progresses, the pain can start from one week before menstruation to two weeks after menstruation. A small number of patients will feel pain before and after menstruation, and this pain will develop cyclically. |
