Endometritis is a common disease that occurs in the uterus. Many girls are relatively unfamiliar with this disease and certainly do not know much about the symptoms. If they feel unwell, they certainly will not be able to judge. In order to let girls understand medical knowledge, the symptoms of endometritis are introduced one by one below. Endometritis is a disease in which, except in women, the uterine mucosa, or endometrium, becomes inflamed. In endometritis, the inflammation is usually the result of some form of bacterial infection that has spread from the vagina to the uterus. The infection may enter the uterus in a number of ways. Most commonly, the infection results from childbirth or other medical procedures that involve access to the uterus, or from a sexually transmitted disease (STD). When associated with an STD, the infection is often called pelvic inflammatory disease, which is a more general diagnosis. For pregnant women, endometritis is most likely to result from childbirth, miscarriage, or abortion. The infection is more likely to occur after a particularly long labor or a cesarean section. Endometritis occurs in about 2 percent of women who have a vaginal birth, but in about 20 percent of women who have a cesarean section. In fact, the most common cause of a fever after childbirth is endometritis. Medical procedures that require access to the uterus through the cervix also increase the likelihood of infection. The most common medical procedures that can lead to this type of infection are performing a dilation and curettage (D&C), inserting an intrauterine device (IUD), or a hysteroscopy. Although a combination of normal vaginal bacteria can cause this infection, sexually transmitted diseases such as chlamydia and gonorrhea are common ways to contract this infection. Generally, while this infection may not have noticeable symptoms, common signs often include fever, unusual bleeding or vaginal discharge, lower abdominal or pelvic pain or swelling. Endometritis can be chronic or acute, and more intense symptoms will be felt if the infection is more severe. Often, this chronic infection is associated with an STD or a medical procedure. More severe forms are often associated with childbirth. Women who may be concerned about developing endometritis should see their doctor. Untreated endometritis can eventually lead to a more serious infection and ultimately complications such as infertility and sepsis. The doctor will usually perform a pelvic exam and may order additional tests, such as an endometrial biopsy, to confirm the diagnosis. Antibiotics are very successful in treating and preventing complications of this infection. Endometritis can be diagnosed based on these four symptoms! 1. Excessive menstruation: If you suffer from endometritis, it will often cause symptoms such as increased menstrual volume and prolonged menstruation. These are likely caused by the increase and thickening of the endometrium and ovarian dysfunction. Female friends should be vigilant. 2. Dysmenorrhea: Dysmenorrhea is a common and prominent symptom in patients with endometrium, and is generally secondary, mainly starting with the appearance of endometriosis. Many patients generally have no history of dysmenorrhea, but it only begins to occur at a certain stage. 3. Stool is heavier and swollen: If you feel a heavy and swollen stool after or after menstruation, this may also be caused by endometritis, which is a typical symptom of endometritis in the uterus and rectum. If these symptoms occur, you need to be vigilant. 4. Pain during sexual intercourse: Why does endometritis also cause pain during sexual intercourse? It is mainly due to endometriosis in the rectouterine fossa and vaginal rectal septum, which causes swelling of the surrounding tissues and affects sexual life, especially in the later stages of menstruation, where the pain will intensify. Warm reminder: The above symptoms are common symptoms of endometritis. Severe endometritis can cause infertility. If you have the above symptoms, it is recommended to go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment in time. The earlier the treatment, the more peace of mind. |
