The blood supply to the endometrium is enhanced, and the phenomenon of gradual thickening, i.e. proliferative endometrium, occurs. The cause of endometrial thickening is mostly related to excessive ovarian estrogen secretion and progesterone deficiency. If the ovarian hormones are disordered, a large amount of estrogen will stimulate the endometrium, which can easily lead to abnormal endometrial thickening and endometrial thickening.

During the ovarian cycle, when the follicles in the ovaries develop and mature, they will secrete estrogen and take effect, which will strengthen the blood supply to the endometrium and cause the endometrium to thicken, providing good conditions for the implantation of the fertilized egg and the growth and development of the embryo. After ovulation, under the action of the progesterone and estrogen secreted by the corpus luteum of the ovary, the thickened endometrium will secrete, which is the secretory endometrium.

Excessive estrogen and insufficient progesterone may be due to taking contraceptives without progesterone or using hormone replacement without progesterone. The chance of this happening is higher in patients with chronic anovulation, such as polycystic ovary disease, late menopause, or obese women who have menopause.
