New treatment for Bartholinitis

New treatment for Bartholinitis

The Bartholin's glands are located at the back of the labia majora on both sides, and the gland duct opens to the inner side of the labia minora near the hymen. Due to the characteristics of the anatomical location, pathogens can easily penetrate and cause inflammation when the vulva is contaminated during sexual intercourse, childbirth or other situations. There are many treatments for Bartholin's gland inflammation at present. Laser treatment is a new treatment method that does not require the removal of the Bartholin's glands and can be treated more thoroughly. The following editor will introduce it to you in detail.

The Bartholin's glands, also known as Bartholin's glands, are about the size of soybeans and are located behind the labia majora on both sides. Each gland has a very thin gland duct, about 1.5 to 2 cm long, which opens into the groove between the labia minora and the hymen at the back of the vaginal vestibule. During sexual excitement, it secretes light yellow mucus, which acts as a lubricant. When infected, the Bartholin's glands may form abscesses due to swelling, or cysts due to duct obstruction.

Treatment includes ostomy and cystectomy of cysts. Ostomy is suitable for larger cysts and recurrent acute attacks; excision is suitable for cysts with infection. For larger cysts, select the lowest point to cut the skin 0.5cm with CO2 laser focus (power 25W), or use ND:YAG laser fiber (power 20W) to cut the lowest point of the mass 0.5cm. Exclude the contents of the cyst and clean and change the dressing of the drainage port every day.

In recent years, CO2 laser has been used for ostomy treatment, with a high cure rate, no adverse reactions, simple operation, and short treatment time. Patients can be treated in outpatient clinics without suturing the wound or hospitalization. The high thermal effect of laser can cause tissue cells to coagulate and carbonize rapidly, and the laser has an affinity for hemoglobin, so it has a good coagulation effect, less bleeding during and after the operation, and can preserve the normal function of the gland, without affecting the quality of sexual life, no infection after the operation, and no need for antibiotics.
