What medicines can treat bacterial vaginosis?

The only prominent feature of bacterial vaginosis is that the patient's vaginal discharge often has a fishy ammonia odor, which often emanates, especially for patients with the first attack, which can cause mental burden. When examining the vulva, it can be seen that there is discharge from the vaginal opening. Using a vaginal speculum, it can be seen that the inflammation of the vaginal wall is not obvious, and there is a uniform gray-white discharge. When a test strip is used to touch the vaginal wall, it can be found that the pH value is often greater than 4.5.

Over-the-counter drugs: For external use, you can choose metronidazole effervescent tablets or suppositories, 200 mg each time, inserted into the vagina before going to bed, for 57 consecutive days; or tinidazole suppositories, 1 tablet each time, once every other day, inserted into the vagina before going to bed, for 2 consecutive times; or tinidazole effervescent tablets, 1 tablet each time, once a day, inserted into the vagina before going to bed, for 7 consecutive times. For oral use, you can choose metronidazole tablets, 0.2 grams each time, 3 times a day, for 10-14 consecutive days; or tinidazole tablets, 2 grams each time, once a day, for 2 consecutive days.

Prescription drugs: Ampicillin, taken orally on an empty stomach, 0.5 grams at a time, 4 times a day, for 57 consecutive days; or erythromycin, taken orally, 0.5 grams at a time, 4 times a day, for 57 consecutive days, but the tablet must be swallowed whole to avoid damage by gastric acid and reduce efficacy.

If the patient's symptoms recur after treatment, another course of treatment can be given, and the spouse can be checked for symptoms of balanitis and given oral metronidazole at the same time.
