How to check for bacterial vaginosis? Gram staining of vaginal secretion smear: a large number of Gram-negative mixed hyphae or Gram-variant coccobacilli can be seen under the oil microscope, and Gram-positive large rods (lactobacilli) are absent; clue cells are positive; secretion amine test is positive.

Recently, some people have detected proline aminopeptidase in vaginal secretions and believed that it is a specific marker enzyme for bacterial vaginitis. It has good consistency with clinical diagnosis, with sensitivity and specificity both exceeding 90%. It is a specific laboratory diagnostic method, and it is easy to operate, fast and inexpensive.
