How is ovulation bleeding diagnosed?

Some women will have two menstrual periods in one menstrual cycle, and the time interval between them is not long. Usually, bleeding will occur a few days after the last menstrual period. This is called ovulation bleeding. So, why does ovulation bleeding occur? How to diagnose it? Please listen to the editor to explain it to you slowly.

Women usually ovulate about 14 days before the next menstrual period. To be on the safe side, we call the 5 days before and 4 days after ovulation, together with the ovulation day, a total of 10 days, the ovulation period. The rest of the time except the menstrual period is called the safe period. Why do many women bleed during the ovulation period? Ovulation bleeding, also known as mid-menstrual bleeding, refers to a small amount of bleeding between two normal menstrual periods, which may be accompanied by varying degrees of lower abdominal pain. The clinical manifestations are as follows:

1. Uterine bleeding. In the menstrual cycle with ovulation, uterine bleeding occurs during ovulation. The amount of bleeding is small, and sometimes it is only brown discharge. It usually stops on its own in 23 days, and the longest is 7 days.

2. Abdominal pain. Periodic pain between menstruation, which can be mild or severe, usually lasts for several hours, and in some patients it can last for 23 days.

3. Infertility. It may be caused by stopping sexual intercourse due to bleeding during ovulation, thus missing the opportunity to conceive. Note: Generally, there are no obvious positive signs. Diagnostic curettage, basal body temperature measurement (basal body temperature is biphasic, and bleeding occurs when low and high temperatures change), and laparoscopy can confirm the diagnosis. If the symptoms are mild, no treatment is required. If the bleeding is heavy or affects fertility, medication can be used for treatment.

The duration of visible vaginal bleeding can be several hours, or 3 to 5 days, but rarely more than 7 days. In severe cases, it may continue until the next menstrual period. Some people bleed in very little amount, which stops with a few drops, or there is blood in the vagina. Generally, it rarely reaches the amount of menstruation. Bleeding may be accompanied by bloating and discomfort in the lower abdomen on one side, or dull pain or obvious pain, and even involve the waist and inner thigh. Symptoms may occur continuously every month or once every other month. Some people experience it for several months a year, and some people only experience this phenomenon once in their lifetime.

In fact, ovulation bleeding is a phenomenon that every female friend may experience. Generally, the amount of bleeding is very small and cannot be observed with the naked eye, but some people will have obvious bleeding symptoms, and the severity cannot be generalized. But in fact, the main cause of ovulation bleeding is the rupture of mature follicles after ovulation.

Of course, it is also possible that the secretion of sex hormones is disordered, causing the hormone level to fluctuate greatly during ovulation and causing obvious bleeding. Chronic inflammation of the endometrium or inflammatory thickening of the ovarian surface causes obvious congestion of the endometrium during ovulation, and the bleeding is not easy to stop on its own, or the inflammatory thickening of the follicle surface ruptures and the bleeding is larger than normal, and flows back into the uterine cavity with the peristalsis of the fallopian tube and is discharged from the body through the vagina.
