Why does cervical laceration occur during artificial abortion?

Why does cervical laceration occur during artificial abortion?

Artificial abortion is a blind operation that depends entirely on the doctor's feeling. If the pregnant woman's uterus is in a bad position, the cervix is dysplastic, the cervix and vagina are inelastic, the uterus has weak contraction, the uterus is soft during lactation, or the uterus is deformed, it will bring certain difficulties to the operation and even cause cervical laceration.

Cervical laceration often occurs in women who have had their first miscarriage. Cervical laceration is an important cause of cervical insufficiency. It is mainly a laceration of the internal cervical opening. In severe cases, the cervix is completely torn and even extends to the lower part of the uterus. Possible causes of cervical laceration are:

① The cervical canal is tight, the number skips when the cervix is dilated, and the surgical operation is rough.

② During the operation, the fetus's limbs are large and sharp. Most cervical lacerations do not necessarily have any symptoms, but the main manifestation is that the cervical canal suddenly becomes loose from tight. The amount of bleeding is usually not much, and heavy bleeding rarely occurs. Mild cervical lacerations can be compressed with gauze strips to stop bleeding. Large cervical lacerations require interrupted sutures with No. 1 intestinal sutures. If the laceration is large and not repaired at the time, it may lead to incomplete function of the internal cervical os in the future and cause habitual abortion.
