Cervical erosion needs to be carefully differentiated from cervicitis

Cervical erosion needs to be carefully differentiated from cervicitis

Cervical erosion is a common lesion in uterine inflammation, which is similar to cervicitis and needs to be carefully differentiated to avoid misdiagnosis and delay the best early treatment opportunity of the disease.

1. Cervical erosion

Cervical erosion can be divided into three types according to the depth of the erosion surface: mild erosion, moderate erosion, and severe erosion. The area of mild erosion generally does not exceed one-third of the entire cervix; the area of moderate erosion is between one-third and two-thirds of the entire cervix, and severe erosion can occupy more than two-thirds of the entire cervix. According to the nature of erosion, it can be divided into three types: simple type, granular type, and papillary type. The cause of the disease is mainly related to factors such as improper local cleaning or bad sexual life. The diagnosis needs to be made based on cervical smear examination and biopsy judgment.

2. Cervicitis

There are two types of cervicitis in clinical practice: acute and chronic. Chronic cervicitis is more common. According to the different pathogens, cervicitis can be divided into staphylococcal cervicitis, streptococcal cervicitis, Escherichia coli cervicitis, anaerobic cervicitis, etc. Its cause is related to the damage to the cervix due to childbirth, abortion, surgery, radiation, etc. The diagnosis requires pathogen testing and white blood cell examination. In addition, in the examination of cervical canal signs, purulent or mucopurulent secretions can be seen with the naked eye.
