Infection and endocrine disorders are the main causes of vulvar leukoplakia

The causes of vulvar leukoplakia are relatively complex, among which infection and endocrine disorders are the two most common causes of this disease.

1. Infection

Inflammatory stimulation caused by vaginal infection is a major cause of vulvar leukoplakia, accounting for about 50% of all patients. There are many reasons for infection, such as poor daily hygiene habits, wearing underwear made of chemical fiber materials, unclean sanitary products, frequent bathing in public baths, etc. Once the infection is caused and not treated in time, the inflammatory secretions will infiltrate the perineum, causing damage to the skin and mucous membranes, causing local redness, swelling, ulcers, degeneration, etc., and eventually develop into vulvar leukoplakia.

2. Endocrine disorders

Endocrine disorders are also a common cause of vulvar leukoplakia. Common symptoms of endocrine disorders, such as pathological allergic reactions of endocrine glands and tissues, genetic defects, enzyme deficiency, and decreased immune function, can all cause endocrine disorders and lead to vulvar leukoplakia. In addition, the determination test of tritium-labeled thymine shows that there is a hormone in the dermis that can inhibit the division and growth of epidermal cells, and this hormone only acts on the local epidermis and has tissue specificity. It is often called inhibitor, which can cause local connective tissue hyperplasia and induce metabolic disorders of the epidermis and develop into vulvar leukoplakia. Controlling this inhibitor is the endocrine function. If the endocrine is disturbed, the amount of this inhibitor will be greatly increased, thereby increasing the incidence of vulvar leukoplakia.
