Women with fallopian tube disease are more likely to have ectopic pregnancy

Women with various lesions in the fallopian tubes are more likely to have ectopic pregnancies after pregnancy than normal women. So, what kind of lesions in the fallopian tubes make women more likely to have ectopic pregnancies?

1. Women with dysplastic or deformed fallopian tubes

If the female fallopian tube muscle layer is poorly developed or the fallopian tube lining lacks cilia, the ability of the fallopian tube to transport the fertilized egg will be reduced, which will lead to the occurrence of ectopic pregnancy. In addition, if the fallopian tube is abnormally deformed, such as bending or spiraling, or there are lesions such as accessory fallopian tubes, the fertilized egg will not be able to reach the uterine cavity smoothly, causing ectopic pregnancy.

2. Women with chronic salpingitis

The fallopian tube is a tube that transports the fertilized egg to the uterine cavity. It has folds inside and ciliated tissue on the folds. Under normal circumstances, the fertilized egg can reach the uterine cavity with the help of the cilia beating and the peristalsis of the smooth muscles of the fallopian tube. However, if the fallopian tube is chronically inflamed, the folds on the mucosa of the tube wall will adhere, which will lead to the narrowing of the tube cavity. Inflammation will damage the cilia on the folds, inhibit the peristalsis of the smooth muscles, affect the normal operation of the fertilized egg, and cause ectopic pregnancy.

3. Women with fallopian tube endometriosis

If a woman suffers from tubal endometriosis, especially if the lesions occur in the isthmus or interstitial part of the fallopian tube, it can easily lead to stenosis or blockage of the fallopian tube lumen, making it impossible for the fertilized egg to reach the uterine cavity normally and causing ectopic pregnancy.
