Treatment of incomplete or missed aspiration of the uterus during abortion

Treatment of incomplete or missed aspiration of the uterus during abortion

Artificial abortion, also known as artificial abortion, is a last resort remedial measure taken by women when contraception fails. Some complications may occur during the operation, such as artificial abortion syndrome, uterine perforation, incomplete uterine aspiration, missed aspiration, etc. Among them, the relevant treatment methods for incomplete uterine aspiration and missed aspiration are as follows:

1. Treatment of incomplete uterine aspiration

If there is residual pregnancy tissue in the uterine cavity, the patient bleeds for more than 10 days after surgery, the amount of bleeding is excessive, or there is a lot of bleeding after the bleeding stops, the possibility of incomplete uterine aspiration should be considered. The occurrence of incomplete uterine aspiration is related to factors such as the operator's unskilled skills, excessive uterine curvature or uterine malformation. B-ultrasound examination can assist in diagnosis. At this time, if the patient has no obvious symptoms of infection, a diagnostic curettage should be performed in time, and the scrapings should be sent for pathological examination. Antibacterial drugs should be used after surgery to prevent infection.

2. Treatment of leakage

When women with intrauterine pregnancy undergo artificial abortion, the embryo and villi cannot be aspirated during the operation due to reasons such as too small gestational sac, excessive uterine curvature, and uterine malformation, resulting in missed aspiration. Therefore, when the aspirated material is too little, especially when the embryonic sac is not seen, the position, shape, and size of the uterus should be reviewed, and the uterine cavity should be re-probed to rediscover the problem and solve it in time. At the same time, the aspirated tissue should be sent for pathological examination in time. If the villi or embryonic tissue is still not seen, in addition to considering missed aspiration, the possibility of ectopic pregnancy should also be ruled out; if it is confirmed to be missed aspiration, negative pressure aspiration should be performed again.
