Indications for focused ultrasound treatment of uterine fibroids

Indications for focused ultrasound treatment of uterine fibroids

If uterine fibroids are not treated or treated in time, they can cause great harm and even affect women's ability to conceive. Therefore, early diagnosis and early treatment are very important. Currently, there are many clinical treatment methods, including surgical treatment, focused ultrasound treatment, etc. Among them, focused ultrasound treatment has its corresponding indications, mainly including the following:

1. Absolute indications for focused ultrasound

Mainly include: clearly diagnosed uterine fibroids, exclusion of uterine sarcoma, other uterine lesions and non-benign cervical lesions; or fibroids that can be displayed by airborne ultrasound.

2. Relative indications for focused ultrasound

Mainly including: cervical fibroids, pedunculated submucosal and subserosal fibroids, vascular leiomyoma; acute and chronic pelvic inflammatory disease, which can become indications after drug control; history of multiple lower abdominal surgeries, history of intestinal adhesions, and foreign bodies placed in the lower abdominal ultrasound channel; severe and hard surgical scars on the lower abdominal wall, with obvious attenuation of imaging ultrasound; some patients with relative indications can be converted to absolute indications; those who cannot lie prone for more than 1 hour, etc.

In short, although focused ultrasound treatment of uterine fibroids has certain therapeutic effects, and has the advantages of being non-traumatic, bleeding-free, and requiring no anesthesia during the treatment process, and truly achieving the goal of treating tumors in the body from outside the body and killing tumor tissue, this method is not suitable for all patients. Patients should follow the indications during treatment and adopt a treatment method that suits their own condition.
