Elderly patients with vaginitis should supplement with phytoestrogens

Senile vaginitis is caused by ovarian dysfunction, decreased estrogen levels, vaginal wall atrophy, thinning of the mucosa, decreased glycogen content in epithelial cells, increased pH value in the vagina, decreased local resistance, and easy invasion and reproduction of pathogenic bacteria, causing inflammation. Supplementing a small amount of estrogen is the treatment principle of senile vaginitis, which can thicken the vaginal mucosa and enhance resistance. It is more scientific and safe for patients with senile vaginitis to supplement plant-based estrogens, because the molecular structure of phytoestrogens is similar to that of mammalian estrogens. It is a type of plant ingredient with biological activity similar to that of animal estrogens and has a wide range of effects on hormone-related diseases.

Phytoestrogens are extracted from plants, especially legumes, and can replace the effects of estrogen while preventing the occurrence of adverse estrogen reactions. The isoflavone active ingredients extracted from soybeans are natural phytoestrogens, which have a similar structure to estrogen in women and can simulate, interfere with, and bidirectionally regulate endocrine levels.

Patients with senile vaginitis can supplement phytoestrogens by supplementing with prebiotic soy isoflavones. The biggest advantage of this phytoestrogens is that it has no side effects and can be taken for a long time. Because soy isoflavones are plant-based, they act slowly and need to be taken consistently. It is generally recommended that women over 35 years old can take a certain amount of soy isoflavones every year to supplement estrogen, which can effectively prevent various menopausal symptoms and also has a good preventive and improving effect on senile vaginitis.
