What are the drugs for treating uterine fibroids?

If uterine fibroids are not treated in time, it will cause many harms, such as female infertility or miscarriage; adnexitis, pelvic inflammatory disease; secondary anemia; malignant lesions, etc. Therefore, early diagnosis and early treatment of the disease are very important. At present, the drugs used in clinical treatment of uterine fibroids mainly include the following:

1. Luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone agonists

It is a new type of anti-gynecological drug in recent years. After continuous use in large quantities, pituitary cell receptors are filled with hormones and cannot synthesize and release follicle-stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone; it has extra-pituitary effects, and large doses can reduce the ability of the ovaries to produce estrogen and progesterone; it can significantly inhibit follicle-stimulating hormone, reduce the secretion of ovarian hormones, shrink fibroids, and achieve the purpose of treatment.

2. Danazol

It can inhibit the functions of the pituitary gland and thalamus, reduce the levels of follicle-stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone, reduce the level of estrogen in the body, inhibit uterine growth and endometrial atrophy, and at the same time cause uterine fibroids to shrink and become smaller, thus achieving the purpose of treatment.

3. Cottonpol

It is a dialdehyde naphthalene compound extracted from cotton seeds. It acts on the ovaries and has a specific atrophic effect on the endometrium, causing pseudomenopause and uterine atrophy, while also shrinking fibroids.

In addition to the above drugs, vitamins, androgens and progestins can also be used to treat uterine fibroids. Patients can choose appropriate drugs under the guidance of professional doctors according to their own conditions.
