Increased vaginal discharge does not necessarily mean cervicitis

Leucorrhea is a mixture of vaginal mucosal exudate, cervical glands and endometrial gland secretions, containing vaginal epithelial exfoliated cells, white blood cells and some non-pathogenic bacteria. Normal leucorrhea should be milky white or colorless and transparent, with a slight fishy smell or no smell; its secretion volume and texture are affected by the level of estrogen and progesterone in the body, and there are periodic changes in quantity, thinness and thickness with the menstrual cycle. If the color, quality and quantity of leucorrhea change abnormally, it is called abnormal leucorrhea. Clinically, most women with abnormal leucorrhea are caused by not paying attention to personal hygiene.

Increased vaginal discharge is the main symptom of cervicitis, but abnormal vaginal discharge alone cannot be used to determine whether a woman has cervicitis. The following reasons can also cause increased vaginal discharge in women:

1. Cervical erosion and pathogen infection.

2. Filterable viruses infect the cervix, vagina and vulva.

3. Trichomonas vaginalis infection and Candida albicans infection.

4. Atrophic vaginitis, foreign matter has entered the reproductive organs.

In daily life, women cannot see their cervix, but through observation and experience of the "mirror" of leucorrhea, they can often find something. If the amount of leucorrhea increases, becomes milky white and mucous, or changes to yellow or pus, or even bloody leucorrhea or bleeding after sexual intercourse, you should be alert. In addition, in addition to fatigue and menstrual pain, lumbar pain, lower abdominal distension and dysmenorrhea should also consider the possibility of cervicitis. If these symptoms worsen before and after menstruation, defecation or sexual intercourse, cervicitis is more suspicious.
