Irregular menstruation may lead to decreased vision

Some women experience eye discomfort during menstruation, and many of them are caused by menstruation. Experts point out that the reason why menstruation can affect the eyes is mostly due to estrogen metabolism disorders, which cause hypothalamic and autonomic nervous system dysfunction, dilation of eye blood vessels, or affect the sensory nerves of the eyes, resulting in symptoms such as eye congestion, swelling and pain, photophobia and tearing, and decreased vision. Once menstruation is regulated, this eye disease will disappear quickly. The main eye diseases related to menstrual physiology are:

1. Menstrual eye congestion: Some women experience eye congestion, conjunctival redness and swelling before menstruation, which gradually subside after menstruation and disappear after two or three days. This eye disease is more common in women with irregular menstruation.

2. Retrograde eye bleeding: Some women experience subconjunctival hemorrhage and even retinal congestion before menstruation, often accompanied by nose bleeding. The bleeding stops quickly after menstruation. This eye disease is more common in women with little menstruation or no menstruation.

3. Menstrual eye pain: Some women experience obvious eye swelling and pain three or four days before menstruation, often accompanied by headaches, irritability, insomnia, fatigue, backache, abdominal pain, etc., which gradually subside and disappear after menstruation. Some cases are often accompanied by persistent photophobia and tearing, which subside after each menstruation, but never completely disappear.
