Overview of Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding

Dysfunctional uterine bleeding is a disease name in modern medicine. It is a common gynecological disease. It refers to abnormal uterine bleeding caused by abnormal neuroendocrine regulation mechanism of the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovary (HP-0) axis, without organic lesions in the whole body and internal and external reproductive organs. It is referred to as "dysfunctional uterine bleeding". Clinical manifestations include loss of normal regular menstrual cycle, excessive menstrual bleeding of varying degrees, prolonged duration, long and short intervals, or small amount of bleeding but continuous bleeding. It causes great pain to patients, and also has a great impact on work, study, childbirth, and family.

The exact incidence of this disease is still unclear. Literature reports that the incidence of functional uterine bleeding accounts for about 10% of gynecological outpatients. According to the pathogenesis, it is generally divided into two categories: anovulatory and ovulatory. Anovulatory functional uterine bleeding accounts for about 80-90% of this disease, and is more common in women in adolescence and menopausal transition period, while ovulatory functional uterine bleeding mainly occurs in women of childbearing age. Both ovulatory and anovulatory functional uterine bleeding can be accompanied by "infertility".

”.

Dysfunctional uterine bleeding belongs to the category of "menorrhea" in traditional Chinese medicine, which refers to the untimely and continuous menstrual bleeding. The former is called "menorrhea" and the latter is called "leakage". Although the conditions of metrorrhagia and bleeding are different, they often appear alternately in clinical practice, and the etiology and pathogenesis are basically the same, so they are collectively called metrorrhagia. Metrorrhagia is also called "metrorrhagia" or "menstrual metrorrhagia". Leakage is also called "leakage" or "menstrual leakage". The earliest record of "Yin deficiency and Yang strife is called metrorrhagia" in the "Inner Canon of Medicine" laid a theoretical foundation for later medical researchers to study metrorrhagia.
