What are the common symptoms of vulvar leukoplakia ? The following will tell you about the symptoms of vulvar leukoplakia at different stages.

In general, the common symptoms of vulvar leukoplakia at different stages are:

1. Symptoms of hyperplastic vulvar leukoplakia

Stage I hyperplastic

At this time, the main symptom of vulvar leukoplakia is vulvar itching. Some patients have severe itching, which worsens at night. Scratching often causes redness, swelling and ulceration, and may cause burning and other discomfort.

Stage II hyperplastic

On the basis of the symptoms of stage I vulvar leukoplakia, keratinization and hyperplasia appear on the skin in the lesion area, and mild hypopigmentation appears locally on the vulvar skin (usually occurring on the inner side of the labia majora and minora), in the form of dots or small white papules, with a frosty white surface.

Stage III hyperplastic

The skin is severely hyperplastic with keratinization, repeated shedding of the keratin layer, or scratching may cause symptoms of vulvar leukoplakia such as vulvar irritation, edema, chapped skin, ulceration and erosion. There may be itching accompanied by pain. The patient feels that the symptoms are severe, but the treatment effect is rapid for this type of patient. Within one course of treatment, the symptoms of vulvar leukoplakia are basically eliminated in about 85% of patients.

2. Symptoms of mixed vulvar leukoplakia

When the disease of patients with hyperplastic and atrophic types of vulvar leukoplakia progresses to the late stage II to stage III, they generally develop symptoms of a mixture of the two types of vulvar leukoplakia.
