What pathological changes will occur in acute cervicitis

I believe that many female friends are very concerned about the knowledge of gynecological diseases, especially cervicitis, which has become a high-incidence disease in recent years. Acute cervicitis troubles many female friends. We can find acute cervicitis more timely and treat it in time by understanding the pathological conditions of acute cervicitis .

The pathological changes of acute cervicitis are mainly manifested in cervical congestion and edema, ectropion of the cervical canal mucosa, and a large amount of purulent secretions overflowing from the cervical canal. Pathological sections show extensive infiltration of polymorphonuclear leukocytes and lymphocytes in the mucosa and stroma. Inflammation can also affect the lumen of the gland through the epithelium, causing epithelial shedding, expansion of the lumen and filling with a large amount of purulent secretions.

Increased vaginal discharge is the main symptom of acute cervicitis. The nature of the vaginal discharge varies depending on the pathogen. For example, if it is caused by Trichomonas, it is yellow, thin, purulent, and foamy vaginal discharge, accompanied by vulvar itching. If the lesion involves the urethra, bladder, or uterosacral ligament, bladder irritation symptoms will occur, including urgency, frequency, pain when urinating, and pain in the lumbosacral region.

Colposcopy of acute cervicitis: The cervix is acutely congested, the mucosa is flushed, and is covered with reticular blood vessels or dot-shaped and spiral blood vessels. If there is glandular infection, there are multiple yellow vesicular pus spots scattered on the surface of the cervix, and the gland opening is filled with pus. Under low-power microscopy, against the background of acute cervical congestion, there are multiple yellow millet-like bubble-like protrusions. The endocervical canal is filled with purulent emboli.

The above are some pathological changes of acute cervicitis. I hope it can help readers better understand cervicitis, so that they can effectively prevent and diagnose it and provide good protection for their own health.
