What are the symptoms of pelvic inflammatory disease?

When the female internal reproductive organs and the surrounding connective tissue and pelvic peritoneum become inflamed, it is called pelvic inflammatory disease. Pelvic inflammatory disease can be divided into chronic pelvic inflammatory disease and acute pelvic inflammatory disease. Let's take a closer look at the symptoms of these two types of pelvic inflammatory disease.

Chronic pelvic inflammatory disease is mostly caused by incomplete treatment of acute inflammation, or the patient's weak constitution and prolonged illness. The symptoms of pelvic inflammatory disease are sometimes low fever and fatigue. Some patients have neurasthenia symptoms due to the long course of the disease, such as insomnia, lack of energy, and general discomfort. Lower abdominal distension, pain and waist pain are often aggravated after fatigue, sexual intercourse, and before and after menstruation. Due to the inflammation in the symptoms of chronic pelvic inflammatory disease, pelvic congestion and menorrhagia may occur. When the ovarian function is damaged, menstrual disorders may occur. When the fallopian tubes are blocked by adhesions, infertility may occur. Chronic inflammation affects women's normal work and life as well as their physical and mental health because it cannot be cured for a long time and recurs repeatedly.

Patients with acute pelvic inflammatory disease generally have a history of acute infection, with dull pain in the lower abdomen, muscle tension, tenderness and rebound pain, accompanied by rapid heart rate, fever, and a large amount of purulent vaginal discharge. Severe cases may include high fever, headache, chills, loss of appetite, a large amount of yellow leucorrhea with odor, abdominal distension, tenderness, and lower back pain. Nausea, bloating, vomiting, diarrhea, etc. may occur when there is peritonitis. When an abscess is formed, there may be a lower abdominal mass and local compression and irritation symptoms. If the mass is located in the front, there may be difficulty urinating, frequent urination, and painful urination. If the mass is located in the back, it may cause diarrhea, tenesmus, and difficulty in defecation.

The above are the symptoms of two types of pelvic inflammatory disease.
