What to check for cervical erosion

What to check for cervical erosion

Cervical erosion can be checked through gynecological examination, cervical cytology and colposcopy. The specific method is selected according to the doctor's advice. Cervical erosion is a normal physiological phenomenon of the outward migration of the cervical columnar epithelium, but pathological lesions must be excluded.

1. Gynecological examination is a preliminary screening method. The doctor observes the appearance of the cervix with the naked eye to determine whether there are erosion-like changes. This examination is simple and non-invasive, but it cannot distinguish between physiological erosion and pathological lesions.

2. Cervical cytology is an important screening method. By collecting cells from the surface of the cervix and observing them under a microscope, it is determined whether there are abnormal cells. This method can detect early cervical lesions, such as cervical intraepithelial neoplasia or cervical cancer.

3. Colposcopy is a means of further diagnosis. The doctor uses a magnifying glass to observe the surface of the cervix and combines acetic acid test and iodine test to evaluate the scope and nature of cervical lesions. For suspicious lesions, the doctor may perform a biopsy to confirm the diagnosis.

The examination of cervical erosion requires the selection of appropriate methods based on individual circumstances, combined with a comprehensive assessment based on the doctor's clinical judgment. Regular cervical screening is a key measure to prevent cervical lesions, and women are advised to develop a screening plan based on their age and risk factors.
