The difference between cervicitis and cervical erosion

The difference between cervicitis and cervical erosion

Cervicitis is a common disease among women of childbearing age and can be either acute or chronic.

Acute cervicitis often occurs with acute endometritis or acute vaginitis, but chronic cervicitis is the main cause. The main manifestations are increased vaginal discharge, sticky mucus or purulent mucus, sometimes accompanied by or mixed with blood. Long-term chronic mechanical stimulation is the main cause of cervicitis. For example, excessive sexual activity or habitual miscarriage, childbirth and artificial abortion can damage the cervix, leading to bacterial invasion and inflammation, or direct infection by purulent bacteria, or flushing the vagina with high-concentration acidic or alkaline solutions, or infection by foreign objects placed or left in the vagina.

Chronic cervicitis is often caused by pathogens invading and infecting the cervix after childbirth, abortion or surgical injury. Chronic cervicitis has many manifestations, such as cervical erosion, cervical hypertrophy, cervical polyps, cervical glandular cysts, endocervicitis, etc., among which cervical erosion is the most common.

In fact, cervical erosion is a manifestation of chronic cervicitis, and cervical erosion is not what we usually understand as erosion. When the outer epithelium of the cervix falls off and is replaced by another epithelial tissue of the cervical ostium, because the new epithelium covering the surface is very thin, you can even see the blood vessels and red tissue underneath, which looks like real erosion, so it is called cervical erosion, but it is not real erosion. The occurrence of cervical erosion is caused by childbirth, miscarriage, puerperal infection or surgery or mechanical stimulation, such as sexual life damage to the cervix and pathogen invasion. I hope to attract everyone's attention, because the penis and cervix are in direct contact during sex, if you do not pay attention to sexual hygiene, you can directly bring bacteria into the vagina and infect the cervix; for women with cervical erosion, it can aggravate cervical inflammation and expand the erosion surface. Severe cervical erosion sometimes causes bleeding in the couple's life. Whether a woman suffers from cervical erosion or not, she should pay attention to the hygiene of the couple's life. Before sex, both men and women should wash the vulva, and men should pay attention to removing smegma, because it is currently believed that the cholesterol in smegma can be converted into carcinogens under the action of bacteria. Active treatment is required after cervical erosion.
