Sudden itching and abnormal vaginal discharge

Sudden itching and abnormal vaginal discharge

Sudden itching in the lower body and abnormal vaginal discharge may be caused by diseases such as vaginitis, vulvitis or sexually transmitted infections. You need to seek medical attention in time for a clear diagnosis and treatment.

Itching of the lower body and abnormal vaginal discharge are usually related to infection or inflammation of the reproductive system. Vaginitis is one of the most common causes, including bacterial vaginitis, candidal vaginitis and trichomoniasis. Bacterial vaginitis usually manifests as increased vaginal discharge, odor, and mild itching; candidal vaginitis is accompanied by obvious itching and leucorrhea that is like tofu dregs; trichomoniasis may cause yellow-green and foamy vaginal discharge, accompanied by intense itching. Vulvitis may also cause similar symptoms, often due to poor local hygiene, allergies or irritants. Sexually transmitted infections such as chlamydia and gonorrhea may also cause abnormal vaginal discharge and itching.

Treatments vary for different causes. Bacterial vaginitis can be treated with antibiotics such as metronidazole or clindamycin; candidal vaginitis is often treated with antifungal drugs such as fluconazole or clotrimazole; and trichomonas vaginitis requires oral metronidazole or tinidazole. The treatment of vulvitis requires avoiding irritants, using mild cleansers, and applying anti-inflammatory ointments when necessary. Sexually transmitted infections require the selection of antibiotics or antiviral drugs based on the specific pathogens. In daily care, keep the vulva clean and dry, avoid excessive cleaning with soap or lotion, choose cotton underwear and change it frequently. In the diet, you can add foods rich in probiotics, such as yogurt, to help maintain the balance of vaginal flora. If symptoms persist or worsen, you should seek medical attention in time to avoid delaying the condition.
