What is the cause of pelvic fluid accumulation in women?

Pelvic effusion is a manifestation, not a disease. It is an imaging description of pelvic fluid. It can be divided into physiological pelvic effusion and pathological pelvic effusion. Pathological pelvic effusion may occur after pelvic inflammatory disease, adnexitis or endometriosis, and is the main imaging feature of pelvic inflammatory disease.

Causes of pelvic effusion:

1. Causes of physiological pelvic effusion

Some normal women will have a small amount of pelvic effusion during menstruation or ovulation. This is because the pelvic cavity is anatomically located at the lowest part of the abdominal cavity. When there is a small amount of exudate, exudate or ruptured bleeding in the pelvic and abdominal organs, the fluid will first accumulate in the pelvic cavity, thus forming a pelvic effusion. If a small amount of menstrual blood refluxes, follicular fluid accumulates in the pelvic cavity during ovulation in the middle of the menstrual period, and constipation may cause pelvic effusion.

2. Pathological pelvic effusion

1. Not paying attention to hygiene during menstruation. When menstruation comes, the endometrium will fall off, the blood sinuses in the uterine cavity will open, and there will be small blood clots, which is very suitable for bacterial breeding. If you do not pay attention to personal hygiene during menstruation, use unclean sanitary napkins, toilet paper, etc., or have sex during menstruation, it will cause female pelvic fluid accumulation.

2 When inflammation of adjacent organs spreads, women are prone to pelvic effusion when suffering from appendicitis or peritoneal inflammation.

3. After childbirth and artificial abortion, the body is weak and the immunity is low. At this time, the cervix is in a dilated state. If personal hygiene is not paid attention to, the bacteria in the vagina and cervix may also increase, causing female pelvic infection.

4. Infection after gynecological surgery, such as artificial abortion, ring placement surgery, hysterosalpingography, etc. If the disinfection during the operation is not strict, it is easy to be infected after the operation.

5Other ovarian, fallopian tube tumors, liver and kidney diseases can cause pelvic effusion, accompanied by ascites and even pleural effusion.
