Causes of pelvic inflammatory disease

Causes of pelvic inflammatory disease

Causes of pelvic inflammatory disease:

When women are in the puerperium or menstrual period, lack of health care can lead to bacterial infection and pelvic inflammation. Various gynecological examinations, gynecological surgeries and inflammatory infections of nearby organs may induce pelvic inflammation. To prevent such diseases, it is necessary to correctly understand their causes, actively prevent pelvic inflammation, and protect women's reproductive health.

1. Improper postpartum care

Pelvic inflammatory disease often occurs in women of childbearing age. After childbirth or during the postpartum period, due to improper hygiene care and lack of personal hygiene, bacterial infection occurs. Bacteria move from the vagina to the pelvic cavity, invade the reproductive organs, and then develop into pelvic inflammatory disease.

2. Surgical infection

The most common cause of pelvic inflammatory disease caused by surgical infection is artificial abortion, followed by surgical treatment of gynecological diseases, women's accidental pregnancy abortion or induced labor, or fallopian tube disease surgery or hysterosalpingography. It may be due to the lax surgical environment, leading to inflammation and infection. Some may also be due to improper postoperative care and premature sexual intercourse, which can cause bacteria to infect upward and induce pelvic inflammatory disease.

3. Secondary infection from other diseases

Some pelvic inflammatory diseases are secondary to diseases of other nearby organs. For example, if appendicitis is not treated in time, the inflammation will spread to the pelvic cavity and then cause pelvic inflammatory disease. Vaginitis, cervicitis, and bacteria entering the pelvic cavity through the lymphatic system can also cause secondary infection of the reproductive organs.

4. Infection during menstruation

The menstrual opening makes the uterus vulnerable to invasion by foreign bacteria, and menstruation is also the period when bacteria reproduce most vigorously. At this time, if you use unqualified sanitary products, take a bath, swim or have sex, it will provide opportunities for bacterial infection, and then lead to pelvic inflammation.

The above is an introduction to the causes of pelvic inflammatory disease. This common gynecological disease has a great impact on women's physical and mental health. In addition to active treatment, it is also necessary to fundamentally prevent the recurrence of pelvic inflammatory disease.
