Exercise has many benefits for the body, but there is no consensus on how much intensity and duration is sufficient. "Neuropsychologia" recently published the latest publication from Western University in Canada. The research team said that even a short exercise of just 10 minutes may benefit brain health. In the study, the authors recruited healthy subjects and divided them into groups, one group exercised on an exercise bike for 10 minutes, and the other group sat and read a magazine for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, both groups of subjects were asked to complete a challenging cognitive test to test their executive functions, including decision-making and inhibiting incorrect responses. The results showed that compared with the group who sat and read the magazine, the subjects who exercised on the stationary bike for 10 minutes had better average performance in cognitive tests, especially the part about inhibiting incorrect responses.
