For health reasons, it is better to eat less processed food and junk food. However, does a slim figure mean that the food in your mouth will have less impact on you? The Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics recently published a new study from the University of Arizona. The research team stated that foods with a high dietary energy density (usually processed foods) may increase the risk of obesity-related cancers in postmenopausal women, even if these women are within the normal weight range. The authors note that based on the findings, some of the risk of obesity-related cancers in postmenopausal women may not be due to their body weight but rather to the quality of the nutrients they consume. The experimental results show that dietary energy density (DED), which can reflect the quality of individual nutrient intake, is related to the risk of cancer in women. Even if some women maintain their weight within the standard range, the correlation can still be observed.
