Here are some reasons why you gain weight:

1. Excessive calorie intake

This is definitely the main factor for gaining weight. When calorie intake exceeds the body's consumption, the body will synthesize the extra 7700 calories into 1 kg of fat and store it. There is no upper limit to the body's fat storage, which means that you can get fatter and fatter endlessly.

But you might say, "I don't eat much." Maybe you ate two pineapple cakes, a serving of fried chicken, or a cup of bubble milk tea during afternoon tea and felt a little guilty, so you thought you could cover it up by eating less or skipping dinner! But in fact, what you eat are "mine foods" with super high calories. The calories in these foods are much higher than a bowl of rice. So even if you eat one less bowl of rice for dinner, the total calories for the day will still exceed, and you will still gain weight. Moreover, if you skip dinner, you will get hungry quickly, which may lead you to eat more "mine" midnight snacks.

Therefore, you must first examine your eating habits to see if you often eat "mine foods"? Including: fried foods (fried chicken, braised spareribs, potato chips), high-sugar and high-oil foods (pineapple cakes, pastries, cakes, milk tea, cream, soft serve ice cream), sugary drinks (cola, juice, lactic acid drinks), high-calorie sauces (mayonnaise, shacha sauce, jam, cream, ketchup)... etc.

During the weight loss period, avoid the above "landmine foods". You can eat more "rough" and "unrefined" natural foods, such as: brown rice, whole grain rice, sweet potatoes, vegetables, not too sweet fruits, etc. These foods contain high dietary fiber, which will make you feel full without causing your blood sugar to rise too high (foods that cause blood sugar to rise quickly are prone to obesity).

2. Reduced metabolic rate

Have you ever noticed one thing: thin people always stay thin, and fat people easily get fat. Why is this? The answer is that the "basal metabolic rate" is different. The higher the muscle proportion in the body, the higher the basal metabolic rate will be. Therefore, in addition to diet control during weight loss, exercise is also necessary. Exercise can increase muscle mass and improve basal metabolic rate. When muscle mass increases, it will be less likely for you to gain weight again.

Some factors that can lower your basal metabolic rate should also be noted, including: dieting, protein malnutrition, repeated weight loss and weight gain, etc. Therefore, a "balanced low-calorie diet" combined with "moderate exercise" is the only way to truly lose weight in a healthy way.
