Getting rid of varicose veins is very effective with yoga cow face pose

If you see lines on your calves that look like "little green snakes", be careful as this may be a symptom of varicose veins. The yoga "Cow Face Pose" can help prevent leg cramps and varicose veins, stretch the chest, and straighten the back, which can be said to kill two birds with one stone!

Symptoms of varicose veins: swelling, numbness, and bulging veins in the legs

Varicose veins are caused by the weakening of the elasticity of the leg veins or the poor closure of the venous valves, which prevents blood from resisting the force of gravity and being sent back to the heart. There are many causes of varicose veins in the lower limbs. In addition to obesity, heredity, female hormones, long periods of sitting or standing, constipation causing high abdominal pressure, incorrect posture and excessive exercise may also increase venous pressure and lead to varicose veins.

When varicose veins occur in the legs, purple spider-web-like blood vessels will appear on the skin, and the legs will feel swollen and numb. In severe cases, there will be obvious blue veins, as if there are earthworms clinging to the legs. Varicose veins not only affect your appearance, but can also affect your health if the condition worsens. Generally, women suffer from varicose veins more frequently than men, mainly because during puberty, pregnancy, and menopause, endocrine changes in women increase the distribution of pelvic veins and blood flow. Pregnant women are more likely to develop varicose veins because of weight gain and fetal pressure.

Yoga "Cow Face Pose" helps prevent varicose veins in the legs

Indian yoga master Sujit Kumar, in his new book "Healthy Yoga for the Whole Family", specially demonstrates the yoga "Cow Face Pose", which is a yoga pose that imitates the face of an animal cow. You can use a yoga rope to assist. Practicing this movement can help prevent varicose veins in the legs.

Cow Face Pose (Blanket Assisted)

1. Sit with your legs straight and toes pointing up. Place your hands at your sides with your palms flat on the ground. Straighten your spine and lift your chest.

2. Bend your feet, keep your knees facing up, and your feet flat on the ground. Place your hands behind your back to support your weight. Place a blanket under your hips to make sitting more comfortable.

3. Pass your left foot under your right knee, placing your left heel flat on the outside of your right hip and your left knee underneath your right knee.

4. Then fold your right knee over your left knee and place your right foot on the outside of your left hip.

5. Bring your knees close to each other and press down. Place your hands on your knees. Relax your shoulders and straighten your back.

6. Raise your right hand above your head, with your arm close to your ear and your fingertips facing upward. Relax your left hand outside your body.

7. Then put your right hand down and your left hand up, and hold your hands together. At this time, relax your right shoulder and pull your left shoulder back. Use the strength of your clenched hands to balance your left and right shoulders. Stay for 5 to 7 breaths. Relax your hands and legs, switch sides and repeat the above steps.

[Tips]: If you cannot hold your hands tightly behind your back, you can use a yoga rope to assist.

Preventing varicose veins

1. Avoid sitting or standing for long periods of time and maintain moderate exercise.

2. Raise your legs frequently, preferably above heart level.

3. Avoid lifting heavy objects frequently.

4. Maintain a normal weight to avoid increasing the burden on the leg veins.

5. Wear medical elastic stockings to promote venous blood return in the lower limbs. For people who need to sit or stand for long periods of time, it is best to wear elastic socks before getting up during the day. Avoid bending over when wearing it. It is best to lie down and lift your feet up to wear it.

6. Raise your legs before going to bed. Raise your lower limbs about 30 to 45 degrees before going to bed every night and maintain for 10 to 15 minutes to help relax the leg muscles and facilitate blood circulation in the lower limbs.

7. Quit smoking, because smoking can easily increase blood pressure and damage arteries and veins.

8. In terms of diet, you should eat more high-fiber, low-fat foods, and supplement with vitamins C and E to help improve blood circulation.
