Health takes root, millennial love goes out to campus

Fat parents are more likely to raise fat children! The Millennium Love Health Foundation reminds that an unhealthy family lifestyle can easily instil risk factors for obesity in children from an early age. Among the 10,052 elementary school families in Taiwan, nearly 40% are "too full" families. They eat too much every day, parents have excessive waist circumference, children are overweight, eat indiscriminately, and do not exercise. These families are at high risk of metabolic syndrome (Metabolic Syndrome, Metabo for short)! Therefore, the Millennium Love Health Foundation, which was established with donations from Uni-President Enterprises and Uni-President Convenience Stores, began to promote the "Healthy Movement to Campus" advocacy program in 2012, going deep into 26 elementary schools in 16 counties and cities. By having students go home to help their parents measure their waist circumference, the foundation also aims to improve the parents' lifestyles and work together to combat metabolic syndrome!

The Millennium Love Health Foundation, established with donations from Uni-President Enterprises and Uni-President Convenience Stores, began promoting the "Healthy Movement on Campus" advocacy program in 2012, with remarkable results.

Millennium Love Health Foundation has cultivated 20,000 healthy families in three years

Li Huayang, deputy general manager of Uni-President Enterprises and executive director of the Millennium Love Health Foundation, pointed out that establishing a good lifestyle of healthy eating and exercise habits can reduce the risk of obesity and metabolic syndrome. However, the Millennium Love Foundation has found from past experience that health education campaigns for adults and parents have limited effectiveness. In addition, metabolic syndrome often begins to accumulate and form in childhood. Therefore, the foundation has begun to enter campuses and take root there. Through the OPEN Kids and the "Every Too Full" action drama, children are trained in a fun way to help their parents measure their waist circumference. Girls should not exceed 80 cm and boys should not exceed 90 cm. Parents are also encouraged to implement the healthy principles of "controlling waist circumference and the three highs, choosing a healthy diet, and maintaining an active lifestyle" to prevent "every day being too full".

The "Healthy Movement to School" campaign has entered its third year, with more than 20,000 elementary school students participating. This year, it has also been extended to New Taipei City, Taoyuan County, Changhua County, Chiayi City, and Tainan City. The event was held at Dongguan Elementary School a few days ago. Not only did they invite Tainan City Health Bureau Director Lin Shengzhe, Education Bureau Chief Secretary Chen Xianming, and Health Bureau Special Committee Member Wu Zhaohui to provide guidance, but the host Uni-President Enterprises also invited Chen Yongji, who returned from the United States to play for the Uni-President 7-ELEVEN Lions, to join the event, lead the schoolchildren in "fighting" bad eating habits, and jointly declare that they should exercise more and eat more plant-based foods to stay away from metabolic syndrome and diseases derived from the three highs.

Sponsored by Uni-President Sunshine Low-Sugar High-Fiber Soy Milk, the "Healthy on Campus" program, jointly organized by the Millennium Love Health Foundation and the education bureaus of various county and city governments, goes deep into elementary schools to advocate correct health concepts. Through health education for teachers, children, and parents, it protects the "health line" of the whole family, calls for the practice of "3D healthy living" from an early age, and familiarizes students with the health indicator of "maintaining a healthy waist circumference of 80 to 90" so as to create a healthy life together with their parents. The foundation also hopes that this event will be adopted by more county and city governments or local businesses in the future to expand the number and scale of events and help more obese families become healthier.
