From the West to the East, drinking red wine has become a national sport. In addition to preventing the occurrence of cardiovascular diseases, American scholars recently discovered in human experiments that if older women drink 1 to 2 glasses of red wine a day, the rate of bone loss will slow down, keeping bone density at a certain level, and the chance of fractures will decrease accordingly. Calcium loss is common among menopausal women, and they are easily prone to fractures due to improper application of force. American scholars suggest that drinking 1 to 2 glasses of red wine a day can say goodbye to osteoporosis. Time Magazine reported today that a gynecological researcher at Oregon State University recently conducted a survey on 40 menopausal women under the age of 65. All of them maintained a habit of drinking 1.5 to 2 glasses of red wine per day, equivalent to 210 to 280cc. During the experiment, the 40 women were first asked to abstain from alcohol for two weeks, and then resume their previous habits, and the differences in their bone density were observed and compared. When the subjects did not drink alcohol for 14 consecutive days, the "osteocalcin" and "osteoclast metabolism index CTX" in the blood increased significantly, but 12-14 hours after resuming drinking, the "bone balance" in the body returned to normal and the rate of bone loss slowed down. Researchers said that human osteoblasts undergo a "metabolic replacement" process every day. After menopause, women have more "osteoclasts" than "osteoclasts" in their bodies, leading to worsening osteoporosis. It is worth noting that if menopausal women do not drink alcohol at all or drink excessively, it will not be good for "bone health", and drinking red wine in moderation can only be regarded as a dietary habit rather than a folk remedy for treating osteoporosis. In other words, women must not replace dairy products with red wine, otherwise it will be counterproductive. Whether the same effect can occur in men or young women remains to be further clarified by researchers. |
