Take action to combat fake weight loss drugs! Ingestion may lead to kidney dialysis

Take action to fight obesity! According to statistics, 50% of men and 30% of women in China have obesity problems, so more and more people are looking for ways to lose weight. However, some people, in order to get a bargain and convenience, buy weight-loss foods of unknown origin in the current counterfeit drug market. As a result, not only do they fail to achieve their weight loss goals, but they also cause more harm to their bodies.

Dr. Zhu Nianfeng reminds that taking weight-loss foods of unknown origin may harm your body by accidentally ingesting counterfeit drugs.

Health authorities and police once seized a type of healthy weight loss food called Beauty Quartet, FREE BADY or YES SIR sold in pharmacies or on the Internet. In fact, they were counterfeit drugs containing phenolphthalein. If taken for a long time, it can cause arrhythmia and unconsciousness, and can even damage the immune system, and in severe cases, it can cause cancer.

Professor Zhu Nianfeng, director of the Department of Preventive Medicine and Community Medicine at the Taiwan Shuang Ho Hospital, pointed out that phenolphthalein was listed as a banned drug in Taiwan as early as nine years ago because it can affect human health if consumed in excess. Cases have also been found in the United States where people developed colon cancer due to long-term use of drugs containing phenolphthalein. Previously, Po Chai Pills in Hong Kong were banned from sale because they were found to contain the banned drug phenolphthalein, and the industry was required to remove them from shelves and recall them. There are also unscrupulous businesses that promote weight-loss cocktail therapy, prescribing a bunch of drugs with unknown ingredients and over-exaggerating their efficacy. As a result, patients take too much and end up having to undergo dialysis.

Dr. Zhu Nianfeng reminds us that the weight-loss pills on the market vary greatly in quality. Some are just health foods, but claim to have weight-loss effects; some are even counterfeit drugs that have not been certified by government health authorities and have unknown ingredients. Not only will they have no effect on consumers, but they will also harm their bodies. Diet control and exercise are the only ways to lose weight, and some people need medication to succeed.
