What diseases are women prone to after menopause?

Menopause is an inevitable process in every woman's life. It is the permanent cessation of menstruation due to the failure of ovarian function. Women are usually prone to vaginitis, depression, osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, etc. after menopause.

Diseases that women are prone to after menopause:

1. Vaginitis: Menopause is a process that every woman must go through in her life, which mainly refers to the cessation of menstruation for more than 12 months. This is usually due to permanent menopause caused by ovarian failure. For postmenopausal women, due to changes in estrogen levels in the body, the vaginal mucosa becomes thinner and secretions decrease. At this time, it is easy to be infected by pathogens such as bacteria, Trichomonas, and Candida, which can cause vaginitis.

2. Depression: For postmenopausal women, the decrease in estrogen levels can also cause mood swings, such as irritability, depression, insomnia, etc. Long-term negative emotions will seriously affect the quality of life and cause depression.

3. Osteoporosis: After menopause, the estrogen level in women's bodies decreases, which causes the body's osteoclasts to become abnormally active, causing bone cells to be quickly broken down and absorbed, leading to a decrease in bone mass and the formation of osteoporosis.

4. Cardiovascular disease: Estrogen can protect vascular endothelial cells and regulate lipid metabolism. Therefore, when women reach menopause, the decline in estrogen levels will also lead to an increase in the incidence of cardiovascular disease.

Things to note for women after menopause:

After menopause, women should develop good living habits, maintain a reasonable diet, exercise moderately, etc. to prevent the occurrence of the above-mentioned diseases.
