What complications can vaginitis cause?

Vaginitis, or inflammation of the vagina, is a group of conditions that cause vulvar and vaginal symptoms such as itching, burning, irritation, and abnormal discharge. The vagina of a healthy woman has a natural defense function against the invasion of pathogens due to the characteristics of its anatomical tissue. When the natural defense function of the vagina is damaged, vaginal inflammation occurs.

Vaginitis may cause several complications, including:

1. Cause other diseases: such as endometritis, pelvic inflammatory disease, etc., which may be caused by ascending infection of pathogens in the vagina.

2. Premature rupture of membranes and premature birth: When vaginitis is more severe, the inflammation may damage the fetal membranes, leading to premature rupture of membranes and premature birth.

3. Infertility: Vaginitis may cause sperm phagocytosis, affecting conception and fertility.

4. Urinary system diseases: such as urethritis, cystitis, etc. These complications may be caused by ascending infection of pathogens.

5. Sexually transmitted diseases: such as gonorrhea, non-gonococcal urethritis, syphilis, genital warts, vaginal candidiasis, Trichomonas, etc. These may be sexually transmitted diseases caused by pathogens infected in the vagina.

In order to reduce the risk of vaginitis and its complications, it is recommended to maintain personal hygiene, change underwear frequently, avoid wearing tight pants and often hold urine and other bad habits. If symptoms of vaginitis occur, you should see a doctor for examination and treatment as soon as possible to get a professional diagnosis and treatment plan. At the same time, if you have other diseases, such as diabetes, tuberculosis, etc., you need to actively treat them to reduce the risk of vaginitis and its complications.
